CASA ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties has been serving abused & neglected children in the 17th Judicial District since August 2000. Since inception, CASA volunteers have served nearly 1,300 children and served on over 440 Dependency & Neglect court cases. Of all the children served, over 700 were served in more than one calendar year. Volunteers generally spend 10-12 months on a case, but some volunteers have worked with a child or sibling groups for many years.
- CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that receives no federal or state funding. The majority of agency funding comes from foundation & corporation grants, and individual & business donations.
- Since its inception, CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties has trained 17 classes of community volunteers, with over 300 volunteers who have been sworn in as Officers of the Court.
- In the year 2009, CASA volunteers in the 17th Judicial District volunteered 19,439 hours on abuse & neglect cases; they donated 122,775 miles of driving. CASA volunteers’ information helped the Judge make good decisions about children’s lives; CASAs made a difference in the lives of children.
- In 2009-2010 CASA volunteers served the best interests of 452 abused & neglected children in Adams and Broomfield Counties, a 37 percent increase from the previous year.
