CASA ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties has been serving abused & neglected children in the 17th Judicial District since August 2000. Since inception, CASA volunteers have served 1,207 children and served on 589 Dependency & Neglect court cases through February 2011.
- CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that receives no fees or federal funding. 95% of agency funding comes from grants and individual & business donations.
- Since its inception, CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties has trained 27 classes of community volunteers, with 548 volunteers who have been sworn in as Officers of the Court through March 2011.
- The 17th Judicial District (Adams & Broomfield Counties) consistently ranks in the top 4 judicial districts, out of 22 Colorado Judicial Districts, in the number of abuse & neglect court filings.
- Adams County Department of Social Services & Broomfield Health & Human Services receive over 8,000 reports of suspected child abuse & neglect annually.
- Over 75% of all revenue collected by CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties goes directly to programmatic expenses (recruiting, training, & supervising volunteers; education & outreach).
- CASA Volunteers are people just like you. They are provided with over 35 hours of pre-service training, & offered over 400 hours of continuing education annually. In 2010 CASA volunteers completed 4,632 hours of continuing education training. CASA volunteers devote 3-5 hours per week investigating, interviewing, reviewing records, writing court reports, and visiting with their child/ren. CASAs are the one consistent adult figure in a physically, emotionally, or sexually abused or neglected child’s life; CASAs ensure that children’s emotional, physical, & educational needs are being met at all times.
- In the year 2010, CASA volunteers in the 17th Judicial District volunteered 22,254 hours on abuse & neglect cases; they donated 149,172 miles of driving. CASA volunteers’ information helped the Judge make good decisions about children’s lives; CASAs made a difference in the lives of children.
